(Arnold Seligmann, Rey & Co., Inc., New York); sold April 1943 to Duncan Phillips [1886-1966], Washington, D.C.;[1] gift 1952 to NGA.[2] [1] The 1 April 1943 invoice (copy in NGA curatorial files, courtesy of The Phillips Collection) is stamped that payment was received 3 April 1944. [2] The gift by Duncan Phillips was made "on behalf of the Phillips Gallery" (now The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.).
