Provenance

The artist; acquired 15 December 1923 by the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington;[1] acquired 2014 by the National Gallery of Art. [1] The painting was purchased from the Corcoran's 1923 Biennial, in exchange for the de-accessioning and return to the artist of two of his paintings earlier added to the Corcoran's collection, _Sleighing_ (Corcoran accession number 14.11), and _The Delaware River_ (Corcoran accession number 07.24a).
