Description

In 1942 the Javanese aristocrat Soejono was appointed minister without portfolio in the Dutch government, which was exiled in London during the German occupation. To date, he is the only Islamic minister to have held a seat in a Dutch cabinet. Soejono’s call to recognize Indonesia’s right to self-determination was completely ignored by his colleagues in the cabinet.
