Description

Amalia of Solms and Louise of Bohemia were very active in the 17th-century art world. Louise was taught by the then famous painter Gerard van Honthorst and mainly painted portraits. Amalia was the most important female patron in the 17th century. As the wife of Prince Frederick Henry of Orange, she had several palaces built and decorated by prominent artists such as Van Honthorst. Here we see her admiring the work of Louise of Bohemia
