Description

Even though owls are night predators, this eagle-owl has managed to catch a chicken during the day. It looks up angrily from his prey while being harassed by a wood pigeon. In general, in daytime, other birds ill try to keep owls from sleeping and chase them away. Eagle-owls are rarely found in the Netherlands. Dirk Valkenburg also worked in Vienna, which is where he most likely portrayed this imposing creature.
