Vase

Description

The porcelains that de Feure conceived for execution by a Limoges factory represent perhaps the finest of all wares fabricated in this medium and done in the art nouveau style. This vase is particularly distinguished because of its beautiful glazes and gilding. A painter and graphic artist of considerable accomplishment, de Feure worked within the artistic modes of Symbolism and French art nouveau. In the years around 1900, he was employed by Samuel Bing to supply decorative arts for his Parisian firm, L'Art Nouveau. The artist designed furniture and ceramics for Bing, including this vase.
