Description
Bowl such as this, with kinrande (gold-engraved) decoration over monochrome enamels, may have been made originally for export to Japan. On the base of this bowl are an underglaze blue inscription, reading "Fine vessel for the rich and honorable (fugui jiaqi)," as well as a modern registration mark "PDF A552" to indicate that it was formerly in the Sir Percival David collection in London. A similar kinrande bowl can be found in the Percival David Foundation, PDF A549.
