Plate (Assiette)

Description

This plate is part of a dinner service commissioned by Louis Joseph, duke of Bourbon, prince of Condé. Painted with his coat of arms, composed of three fleur-de-lys encircled by a cord holding up a pendant with the order of the Holy Spirit and surmounted by the prince’s own crown, this plate’s decoration reinforces the prince’s position as an elite member of the French royal court.
