Trajectory of a Line

Description

Salaua Raouda Choucair was a pioneer of abstract modern art in Lebanon. Her work borrows from the tenets of European modernism—which she absorbed during her studies in Paris—and is infused with elements drawn from the history and traditions of Arabic architecture and design.

One of Choucair's first sculptures, Trajectory of a Line is part of a series that bears the same title. Inspired by an early group of colorfully painted canvases of interlocking forms, the work extends her exploration of geometric abstraction into three dimensions.
