Footbridges (Passarelas), from Blueprints (Heliografias)

Description

Ferrari created the series Heliografias while living in exile in Brazil. The Heliografias, which resembled blueprints, were copied, folded, and sent via mail to friends in Buenos Aires and the rest of the world. In Footbridges, tiny people fill crowded catwalks above streets filled with cars. The tension between order and disorder in the Heliografias mirrored the tension between Ferrari’s urban reality in São Paulo and the oppressive political situation in his homeland, Argentina.
