Cascades through Autumn Foliage

Description

For most of his paintings, Jiang Eshi used monochrome ink and light-green and brown pigments, continuing the tradition of Chinese literati painting. This work, however, depicts bright red and yellow autumn foliage against a cascading waterfall. The artist chose a bold palette for rendering his rhythmic dots, and he used different levels of saturation throughout the landscape to evoke a sense of moisture and depth.
