Satie by Moonlight

Description

Dominick Di Meo first emerged alongside Chicago’s Monster Roster, active around the mid-20th century; these artists developed a distinct approach to the human figure that was disarticulated and frequently terrifying. Di Meo’s work displays a lighter sensibility while being nevertheless couched in often morbid terms. Here the artist combined methods of painting and collage, incorporating both spectral imagery and an actual, evidently worn T-shirt. Brighter than Di Meo’s earlier work, Satie by Moonlight evokes a surreal, nocturnal scene through an unlikely combination of materials
