War Bonds

Description

The imperial eagle of the Russian czar flutters behind this incarnation of a medieval Russian knight on horseback, evoking the valiant victories of the past to inspire heroic action in the present. Though censored for decades following the 1917 Russian Revolution, this type of imperial iconography experienced a resurgence during World War II, though under a much different regime—the Bolshevik Party of the Soviet Union.
