Recorded as from Maryland. Collateral descendants of the sitter to Joseph Chamberlaine Hayward, Easton, Maryland,[1] by whom sold in 1948 through (Richard Goldsborough, Easton, Maryland) to Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch; by bequest to NGA, 1980. [1] Alice Winchester, in "Antiques" (editorial), _Antiques_ 65 (April, 1954), 283, cites the descent through collateral descendants. A letter to the Garbisches from Richard Goldsborough (22 March 1948, in NGA curatorial files) lists the genealogy through Joseph Chamberlaine Hayward.
