Description
Designer, teacher, and author Ann Macbeth published this design in the fine and decorative arts magazine The Studio in 1905. The embroidery motif was intended to be part of a wall decoration. The panel exhibited here may have been made by an amateur needleworker who bought the pattern as part of a kit. Retailers including the London department store Liberty commissioned work from Macbeth for their customers.
